Uncle Tims and White Knights

In Helen Smith’s excellent new book, Men on Strike, Smith identifies three groups of men in America today. There’s technically a fourth group—men who’ve found women that embrace marriage and motherhood and don’t have an ax to grind—but Smith focuses on the men who don’t fall into this camp, as they’re an ever-growing part of our population.

In the first category are the men who’ve gone on strike. These are the guys who are bowing out of marriage (and school, and the workforce) altogether, which is the focus of Smith’s book. The remaining two groups of men are what Smith calls the White Knights and the Uncle Tims. The White Knight wants to take care of women and “sees her as a damsel in distress who needs masculine protection to get by.” His status rises, Smith adds, “because the White Knight is seen by some men as chivalrous and by women as a protector.” In other words, he’s guided by his desire to be a woman’s rescuer and is thus blind to a woman’s foolish or negative ways.

An Uncle Tim is “a sellout to his own gender, who is more than likely either a politician type—usually liberal—or just a guy trying to get laid who thinks his PC behavior will get him laid more often.” He’s often a young guy who’s been brainwashed into believing he must go along with the ‘female as superior’ tune since he’s been taught that men should be punished for past discrimination against women.

I wish I had a dollar for every Uncle Tim I know! These are men who don’t like to stir the pot or are too busy to pay attention to what’s happening in our culture. They want to get laid more than anything else, so they’re fine with women being so sexually available. And if these same men do get tired of being single and decide they want kids, they’re fine with marrying hard-core career women. Both scenarios mean more sex and more money for men.

But here’s the sad part. All too often these White Knights and Uncle Tims get involved with women who’ve focused exclusively on their careers and put no thought into marriage and motherhood until their clocks began to tick. These women tend to marry whatever guy they happen to be with at the time because they want a baby.

And a White Knight or an Uncle Tim will be right there waiting.

White knight & Uncle Tim marriages are ultimately doomed, followed by their loss of children and lifetime of alimony.

Not clever.

When it comes to women either being or not being like men, feminists LOVE to have their cake and eat it too! They, for example, want to be able to wear anything other than skirts and dresses(even to the point of owning NO skirts or dresses and wearing boyishly short hair), but NOT seeing it as dressing or looking male.

What kind of "rescuing" are you referring to? Saving someone's life in a moment of crisis, or trying to
save someone from their own bad decisions and behavior?

Politicians are the worst Uncle Tims and White Knights. It's about saying what people want to hear (in this case
women) for votes. They want men to marry and produce more taxpayers, or soldiers for future wars. The bottom
line is that if you are a man your only purpose is to provide or die. We have been conned since birth into beliveing
this just as our parents and grandparents were. MGTOWs don't want power or control over anyone except ourselves.
I feel sorry for the young guys today. My generation at least had the illusion that men were actually valued.

No, rescuing the damsel in distress is great! It's the ability to recognize the right kind of damsel to rescue that matters. A lot of White Knights don't see the woman for who she is until it's too late. (Just as some women don't see the man...)

Interesting take on Uncle Tims and White Knights. As far as Uncle Tims being cowardly and just “wanting to get in women’s pants” I would agree with that. As far as the White Knight wanting to rescue the “damsel in distress;” I’m totally in favor of rescuing damsels in distress! There’s nothing I like more, nothing that makes me feel more manly than rescuing a damsel in distress! Does that make me a White Knight?

I don’t think Uncle Tims and White Knights are all bad though. Me personally I’m quite suspicious of the MRAs. I just wrote an article on Uncle Tims, White Knights, and MRAs the readers here might be interested in:

The Uncle Tims are the ones who seem innocent, but are not necessarily innocent. They usually think that because people can do whatever they want (because they are like that themselves), marriage is not something to be committed to.

No, you're not off base. That's it in a nutshell.

I bought Dr. Smith's book a few weeks ago and started my second reading of it the other night. It is an excellent treatise on the state of men these days. I guess now what I need to do is buy your books. I've enjoyed everything you've written so far.

" America needs to stop focusing exclusively on women, as though they’re a persecuted group in constant need of protection. If women are just as strong as men, as the culture insists, what’s with all the special needs?" I was thinking about a similar issue on the way to my office this morning. It seems that the primary societal goal for marriage these days is the feminization of men...make them more like women, but not make women more like men. Am I off base here?

Suzanne, John is so typical . He is tired of loveless sex and he is starting to become concerned about growing old and being alone, and that is a mans biggest fear. He is a poster boy for what is wrong in America today. He wants a woman, but not one like her. He rationalizes staying with her, because she has "good" moments. His problem is that he doesn't have choices. She is the same as all the other females in America. He needs to read my book also, and find out what solutions are available to so he can put an end to his dilemma and be happy for the rest of his life.

I doubt she acted this way early in the relationship. It behooves men to remain vigilant when dating someone new. This kind of behavior has to be curbed right from the start. It takes work but it's a lot easier than trying to regain hand 3-6 months down the road.

Where is Suzanne Next?

See what people are saying. . .

“Thank you, Suzanne, for having the courage and conviction to be ‘politically incorrect’ in speaking the truth about women, dating and family. You speak for millions of women who don’t have the same courage to stand by what seems like common sense in creating and maintaining a productive society and future generations’ success and prosperity.”
— Michelle

“It is so completely wonderful to hear voices like yours, expressing a truth so many of us know but will never see represented in the mainstream media. Thank you so much for your work, Suzanne.”
— Andrea

“I like what Suzanne Venker has to say. I think women need to really listen to what she’s saying, really listen, and don’t jump to conclusions. She’s not sending us back in time, but forward with a fresh look at who we really are as women.”
— Pamela

“I almost ruined my relationship with my husband when we were dating because of my anti-man attitude. I have now completely converted. Know that you are making a difference!”
